Eagle Point High School Students Earn National Medal in SkillsUSA 2022.

Yesenia Avila and Lindsey Wargnier returned from SkillsUSA 2022 Nationals with a team Silver Medal in Robotics. The 2022 SkillsUSA National competition took place in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 20 - 24. Eagle Point High School was one of several Oregon schools that sent student competitors. Students who participated at the national level earned their spot by qualifying at the state level earlier this year.

Yesenia Avila, who graduated from Eagle Point High School this year, said the trip was a huge eye-opening experience.

"It was quite the experience, and I'm glad to be part of something so huge."

Yesenia also said, "The most nerve-racking part of the SkillsUSA competition was waiting to find out the results. I was under the impression that a medal might be in my future, and I couldn't wait to find out."

Teammate Lindsey Wargnier is heading into her senior year at EPHS and plans to continue her participation in SkillsUSA. When asked, what the trip meant to her, she said:

"SkillsUSA is not just an organization of the community, it is also a journey that takes you in different directions in the forms of friendly competitions that bring people together."

Teacher Daniel Langston shared:

I am incredibly proud of all the students who participated. It’s a pleasure to see them compete. They work hard and put in so much dedication and time throughout the school year.

My hope for the 22-23 school year, is that more students are able to participate in this fantastic experience. These opportunities can positively impact a student’s decisions, career opportunities, and overall path in life.
