Dear EPSD9 Patrons,

Last week I wrote to you to tell you about Governor Brown’s statement outlining a goal
of returning more Oregon students to in-person instruction by mid-February at the
latest--prioritizing our youngest learners. While decisions to resume in-person
instruction can now be made locally, we cannot make these decisions alone. In
addition to working with our local public health department and following all required
health and safety protocols, we are committed to honoring all voices in our community,
including yours.

We know the last 10 months have been difficult with the arrival of COVID-19. We
appreciate all that you have done to support your students with Comprehensive
Distance Learning (CDL). If you want to have your student return to In-Person
Instruction, we want to provide that. If you want your student to continue with CDL,
that is fine too.

Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey for each of your students that
attend EPSD9 schools by January 11th to help inform our next steps.

The following resources may be helpful to review prior to filling out the survey:

We have already begun planning to bring EPSD9 students back to school in-person
for the Third Quarter, beginning January 25, 2021. At this time, we are planning for all
elementary students and Shady Cove School students to return everyday. EPHS,
EPMS and WMMS would have an A/B schedule, alternating days at school. We will
continue to follow all of the safety protocols prescribed by the Oregon Health Authority
and the Oregon Department of Education. We are hosting a Town Hall Meeting,
January 11, 2021 at Eagle Point High School. For safety, we are asking you to email
us at reopen@eaglepnt.k12.or.us to let us know that you want to attend in person.
This meeting will also be broadcasted for you on our YouTube channel.

Respectfully,

Andy Kovach
Superintendent
