Dear Eagle Point School District 9 Families,

We are so excited to begin school in-person with your children next week!

School begins for grades first through twelfth on Tuesday, September 7th.  Pre-K, Kindergarten and some other programs have a soft start--beginning on September 8. If you are unsure of when your student begins, check the school website or call the school office.

Your child’s safety is our number one priority! Eagle Point School District 9 abides by Oregon law and the rules that govern our public schools. Following the guidelines from the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority will help keep our schools open for in-person learning and reduce the number of students/staff that will need to quarantine. In order to accomplish this, we all need to work together.

  1. Each day, monitor your child’s health. If they have any COVID symptoms or don’t feel well, call the school office and keep your symptomatic child at home.

COVID Symptoms
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

  1. If your child has been exposed or around any person who has COVID-19, call the school office and keep your child(ren) home. Watch for COVID symptoms.

  1. Students, teachers, support staff, parents and all other campus visitors are required to wear a mask indoors while at school. Masks help reduce the spread of COVID-19 so in-person learning can continue for students. Masks also help reduce the number of people who will need to quarantine when someone has been exposed to COVID-19.

Additional information regarding the mask mandate can be found at OAR 333-019-1015.

  1. When a student contracts covid, these are the quarantine procedures for other students?

At this time: Elementary Level

  • Everyone is masked, no one is quarantined
  • The positive student is masked, anyone who was not masked will be quarantined
  • The positive student is not masked, everyone in the cohort is quarantined

At this time: Middle and High School

  • Everyone is masked, no one is quarantined
  • The positive student is masked, those seated around the case that are not masked will be quarantined.
  • The positive student is not masked, those seated around the case will be quarantined.

Covid Illness Protocol

At this time, Quarantine time can be shortened if a student takes a PCR COVID test on the 5th day after the exposure date and no symptoms are present. If the test produces a negative result, the student may return on the 7th day. (The day after exposure is the start of day 1)

In preparation for your student’s return to school, we have purchased new Ipads for every student. Be sure to send your student’s old Ipad to school with them to exchange it for a new one in the first week of school.

See you soon!
