Bargaining Updates

3/30/26: The District and the Association met for contract negotiations on March 30. During this session, an agreement was reached on Article 16. 

The District presented updated proposals on Articles 5, 11, 12, 13, 20, 26, 27, and 28. These proposals focused on clarifying contract language, aligning it with current law, and supporting operational consistency. Key discussion topics included work-year expectations, integration of Paid Leave Oregon, and updates to protected leave language. The District also emphasized maintaining a strong focus on instruction and student learning while clearly defining employee protections.

EPEA presented proposals on Articles 2, 8, 10, 11, 12, 17, 20, and 27. Both parties engaged in clarifying questions and discussion throughout the session and identified areas needing further review. The teams will continue working toward solutions and will meet again for further negotiations.


3/16/26: The District and the Association continued contract negotiations on March 16. During this session, both parties presented updated proposals and engaged in thoughtful discussion across several contract articles.

The Association shared three revised articles, and the District presented two counterproposals. A key area of discussion centered on instructional time and the use of make-up days, with differing perspectives on how best to support student learning. 

Both sides also discussed proposed changes to transfer processes, aiming to balance staff stability with the District’s need to respond to enrollment and program needs.

No agreements were finalized during this meeting. Both teams will continue working toward solutions and will meet again for further negotiations.


3/5/26: The District and the Association met on March 5 for a productive bargaining session marked by a collaborative tone and thoughtful dialogue. The meeting began with each side sharing a presentation that outlined its overall perspective and priorities, which helped establish a clear understanding of the interests guiding both teams.

Throughout the session, six Tentative Agreements were signed, reflecting meaningful progress and a shared commitment to moving the work forward. The teams exchanged multiple proposals and engaged in constructive discussions about language and intent, with both sides demonstrating a willingness to adjust wording and explore options that could lead to mutually agreeable solutions.

The District team remains committed to a respectful, solutions-oriented process that supports our employees while maintaining a strong focus on the needs of students and the long-term success of the District. We appreciate the professional approach shown by all participants and look forward to continuing this positive momentum in upcoming sessions.


2/19/26: We are pleased to report a successful initial meeting where both teams established the framework for our upcoming negotiations. To support an efficient and focused process, we have agreed to:
Bargaining Format: All sessions will be held in closed session to allow for open and direct dialogue. Timeline: We have set a schedule of bargaining dates to ensure consistent progress. Our Approach: We are committed to good faith bargaining.


2/2/26. The District provided formal notice to initiate successor collective bargaining with the Eagle Point Education Association / SOBC. The current agreement remains in effect through June 30, 2026. Consistent with Article 1.B of the contract, the Board and the Council will make every effort to conclude negotiations by April 1. The District looks forward to a thorough, expedient, and good-faith bargaining process that reflects our shared commitment to supporting our dedicated staff and ensuring strong outcomes for Eagle Point School District 9 students.
